Can I use the Good Gut Shake in my cooking - will it decrease the nutritional benefits?

Many of the spices in the Good Gut Shake, such as ginger, turmeric and fennel have been used as cooked spices in traditional cuisines. In fact, some research has shown that gentle heating, such as steam from cooked foods or added towards the end of cooking, is actually beneficial for the release of antioxidant compounds in ingredients such as turmeric.

However, it’s not advised to cook with the Good Gut Shake for long periods at high temperature as this does reduce the overall amount of bio-active compounds in the ingredients.

What’s the shelf-life of the Good Gut Shake?

As with most spices there is no expiry date but we recommend a best before use date that is 6-12 months from purchase.

How does the Good Gut Shake benefit my gut health and immune system?

As 70% of our immune system lies in our gut, maintaining good gut health means we are also taking care of our immune system. The spices we’ve selected for the Good Gut Shake helps support our digestive system through their anti-inflammatory properties. What are adaptogens?

Adaptogens are natural herbs used in herbal medicine to help support your body’s response to stress. When we’re stressed, our adrenal glands produce stress hormones such as cortisol which puts us in a physical and mental “fight or flight” state. Adaptogens help our body become more resistant to stress by regulating the production of these hormones.

What’s special about them is their ability to help our body adapt to different situations - helping to energise us when we feel low or helping to calm anxiety.

In our Shake it Off seasoning we use Schisandra berries and Bacopa, which are known to help reduce anxiety and depression, boost memory, focus and improve overall cognitive function. Find out more about Schisandra and Bacopa in Our Ingredients.
